The Gym Bag -What Should You Take?

Just like everything else, planning to take the essentials is important. To keep it simple, this is what I pack:

Gym Bag Essentials

  • Two small towels
  • A bottle of water
  • Shower sandals (gyms are a good place to pick up athlete’s foot, so protect your feet)
  • A mesh bag for toiletries that will allow them to dry before the next day
  • Makeup
  • Shower cap
  • Change of clothes in a plastic bag. I can make several bags in advance so that I can just grab them and go.
  • A large mesh laundry bag for my workout clothes

Makeup Essentials

(This will be different for everyone, but at minimum pack a good BB cream)

  • BB Cream
  • Concealer
  • Powder
  • Lip Gloss
  • Mascara
  • Eyebrow pencil
  • Face powder
  • Small set of brushes

Mesh Bag for Toiletries

The mesh bag allows them to dry well. I found that at Walmart for around $5.

  • Deodorant
  • Shaving cream
  • Razor
  • Comb
  • Bath Pouf
  • Face Wash
  • Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Lotion

(I recommend buying small, refillable containers for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. I just happened to have these on hand from hotel stays)

Bare Necessities

In the winter, I wear boots to the gym. Salt and snow shouldn’t be tracked onto the machines out of courtesy for everyone else who uses the equipment. I also keep my headphones in this bag so that on days that I shower at home, I only need to take this small bag. I also keep a couple of pairs of spare headphones in my car just in case I lose them or forget.
