After dinner, I quickly take inventory of what produce needs to be cut for the next day. Tomorrow, I will be having fresh apples, pears, and tomatoes. To keep the fruit from turning brown, I squeeze a bit of lemon juice in the bag, then shake it up.
This serves four purposes:
- I prep food for the next day after dinner and before I do the dishes. This way, I only have to wash the cutting board and knife once. This is where the idea of “I’ll eat five servings of fruit and veggies every day.” is turned into an action.
- I will be far more likely to eat the produce that I have on hand if it’s precut.
- There is zero thought during the day about what to eat. I just grab a bag and go.
- If the late night munchies hit, then I can choose to eat well because I have something on hand that is convenient.
I also prepare my clothing for the next day by placing them in bags and hanging them in the bathroom. This is where the idea of “I will start using my gym membership.” is turned into an action. I wake up, get ready, and head out the door. There is zero thought about going because I just go. I know that I’ll feel great mentally and physically when I’m finished!
